NCU Magazine - Spring '08 Advancement Updates
A Mansion of a Gift
Located on the 1700 block of Elliot Avenue, just a block away from the College Life Center, this building has been committed as a gift to the university. A Richardsonian Romanesque architectural design which was distinctive in the late 1800’s, it will free up space for us to expand our Children and Family Ministries Program. We are updating the building this summer and plan to house the Intercultural Studies (Missions) Department in it along with the Business Major. This new resource will open the door for the university to expand its Missions focus and to give opportunity for business majors and missions majors to collaborate on partnerships that can continue to reach the world for Christ.
Partners for Progress
David Grant spoke at the annual banquet with some 500 guests in attendance this past fall. Along with Rev. Grant’s message, guests enjoyed a performance by the NCU Chorale, which was joined by a choir of children from the Elliot Park neighborhood
in providing special music for the evening.
The children were students participating in the W.O.V.E.N. (With One Voice Energizing Neighborhoods) project, a program in which NCU students provide piano, guitar and voice lessons at no charge to students. The focus of the fundrasing for the evening was on expanding our Children and Family Ministries program. With newly revised and updated curriculm, this program is better equiped than ever to train ministers to children. In addition, reaching children in countries beyond America will be a focal point of the expanded program.
