NCU Magazine: Cross Country Repeats
Though both NCU teams had a target on their backs following championship seasons in 2006, they added more history to the Rams record books. The clear and crisp day (Nov. 10, 2007) was a picture-perfect setting for the Rams to continue what has become the greatest run of success at the national level for any team in NCU history.
With the latest group of awards and accomplishments, Rams Men’s and Women’s Cross Country has won a combined five national championships in three years, while crowning 11 All-Americans and two individual National Champions. Equally impressive are the nine Academic All-American awards earned by the group, and the 2005 Men’s NCCAA National Scholar Team Award given to the team with the highest cumulative GPA among Division I and II schools.
The Women’s team really showed a dominant level of performance and the Men’s team had close races. “The best part is these men and women are not just runners. They are passionate about their faith and give all they are back to the Source of their talent.
Every time they run, practice, or race, it’s simply a sacrifice of praise,” said Coach Trey Meadows. “The recent success of our teams at Cedarville is something we’re proud of but it’s all just a testimony of God’s goodness. If we didn’t win, we would have been disappointed because winning is the point of competition. But this year I can sincerely say, on Friday before the race these runners were satisfied simply with the opportunity to give back what was given to them.”
