Information Resource Center Survey

Subject area: Two major forms, one asking students to rate the degree of importance of Resource Center services to their coursework, and another asking how satisfied students were with these Resource Center services

 

Format: Listing of several services followed by 1 ("no importance") to 4 ("very important, essential")

 

Implemented: Given to all students in randomly selected courses. Completed at the same time as course evaluations, in fall, 2001

 

Data summary:

Resource Center services seen as most important by students:

  • Books
  • Hours of operation
  • Helpfulness of staff
  • Availability of staff
  • Use of the library as a place of study

No specific course saw overall library resources as significantly more important than other courses

Resource Center services with which students were most satisfied:

  • Use of the library as a place of study
  • Having access to the computer workstations as needed
  • Obtaining material through Inter-Library Loan
  • Internet access in the library
  • Helpfulness of staff

Resource Center services with which students were least satisfied:

  • Books
  • Journals
