Local Sports Outreach Facility Set to Host NCU Soccer Matches

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- North Central University is partnering with Minneapolis-based Urban Ventures to play two games at their Kix Field Facility during the 2008 season. This exciting opportunity allows NCU to play games a few blocks from their campus while connecting with one of the city's largest sports and community outreach organizations.

The Rams will play their annual Men's and Women's Alumni games at Kix Field on Friday August 29 at 2 and 4 pm. On Saturday, October 11 the Soccer teams will also use Kix for their Parents Day games. The Men will host NCCAA region rival Pillsbury Baptist Bible College (Owatonna, Minn.) at 11am and the women will host Mt Mary College (Milwaukee, Wis.) at 1pm.

Because NCU does not have an on-campus soccer facility they have been traveling to the National Sports Complex (Blaine, Minn.) for most of the last 10 years. As the partnership with Urban Ventures developes, NCU and the outreach directors hope that there can be an expanded relationship in the future which would include playing more games at Kix Field along with student athlete involvement in their programing. The Urban Ventures programs include after school tutoring, language classes, sports teams, and many other mentoring opportunites with the inner city youth in the twin cities
