The Rams were led by junior captain Daniel Bare (Portage, Wis.) who claimed his third straight NCCAA All-America honor with his second place overall finish. Bare ran a strong race trading places with the top runner for most of the event before finishing in the second spot with a time of 27:30. The next three runners were a preview of what should be a strong 2009 season as that group of freshman running in their first National Meet showed they were willing to overcome the pressure of a big day and even more difficult weather to help their team compete. Owen Hein (Montevideo, Minn.) earned a 10th place finish with his time of 30:38. Jay Beichley (Gladbrook, Iowa) and Tony Johns (Mankato, Minn.) also ran strong in their first NCCAA Nationals race with 15th and 24th place finishes respectively. Junior Edwin Schenk (Bessemmer, Mich.) rounded out the top five with a 26th place finish.

The Rams should return all seven of the 2008 team members who competed at the National Meet this season including sophomore Jesse Richards (Des Moines, Iowa) and freshman Ian McGuire (Grand Rapids, Minn.) who were the sixth and seventh runners on this year's squad.
