The Rams next compete Wednesday, April 25 at Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) when the Scots host the MAC Twilight Invitational which begins at 5pm.
Men’s Track & Field Athlete Qualifies for National Championships
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- North Central University Men’s Track and Field qualified its first athlete for the 2007 NCCAA National Championship Meet while competing at the Augustana College Early Spring Opener on March 31.
Sophomore High Jumper Chris Hickcox cleared a height of 6′4 3/4″ on his way to winning that event for the day. That mark also surpassed the NCCAA Automatic Qualifying standard of 6′2″ set for the 2007 Championships which were released Monday, April 2. That also means that North Central will be given five provisional event entries for athletes who might not surpass a qualifying mark.
Hickox’ qualification to the meet marks the second time in school history an NCU jumper has qualified for the National Championships. In 2003 Justin Vagle was an All-American in the high jump and set the school record in that event.
