Applied Lesson Registration

Applied music instruction is the study of a specific musical instrument. North Central offers instruction in voice, piano, guitar, bass, violin, flute, saxophone, cello, french horn, trumpt and percussion. Student desiring lessons in another instrument should contact the College of Fine Arts for assistance.

Non-majors may also take an applied lesson. The instructor will determine the level of the student and bring his/her program to the appropriate level of technical development.

General Lesson Information

  • Twelve 25-minute lessons are given per semester for 1 credit lessons and 50 minute lessons for 2 credit lessons
  • Applied lessons cannot be taken for zero credit
  • A minimum of 5 hours a week of individual practice is required for each half-hour lesson. Your teacher may require more than five hours.
  • Representative repertoire from varied historical eras of music will be chosen to develop technique and skills for ministry.
  • 300 level lessons will be assigned for music majors in their major instrument. Music majors must take a lesson on their major instrument each semester until their Senior Recital is complete.
  • 100 level lessons will be assigned for music majors minor instrument and for non-music majors.
  • There is a $90 fee for each half hour lesson and a $150 fee for each hour lesson taken.

Lesson Registration

  • Register on Unet for the number of Generic Music Lessons you would like to take.
  • Once your registration is complete see the College of Fine Arts to schedule a specific teacher and time for each lesson.
  • If you need to change or drop a lesson from your schedule contact the College of Fine Arts.
