How can I request an interlibrary loan?

If the IRC does not have an item that you are looking for than it can be requested via interlibrary loan (ILL). ILL request forms can be found in the form rack as you enter the main Reference Room. Once they have been filled out as completely as possible, it can be taken to the Circulation Desk. There is no cost.

Can I save to the Library computers?

No. For security reasons students are not allowed to save information to the Library computers. 

Can I renew my book?

Yes. Books may be renewed for an additional 28 days. Exceptions to this renewal policy are items on reserve, items in our Reference Collection, Children's Collection and items in our Rare Book Collection/Archive Collection.

How can I pay my library fines?

Students can pay library fines at the Circulation desk. We accept cash, credit or debit cards at this time. Students with a fine over $2.00 will not be able to check out materials until the balance of the account is $2.00 or less.

How long can I check out a DVD?

DVDs and videos may be checked out for 5 days. If a DVD or video is returned late the overdue fine is $1.00 per day.

How long can I check out a book?

Many books in the IRC can be checked out for 28 days. Exceptions to this check out policy are items on reserve, items in our Reference Collection and items in our Rare Book Collection/Archive Collection.

If a book is returned late the overdue fine is $.25 per day.

Can I checkout a magazine or periodical?

No. Magazines and periodicals do not circulate. 

How long will it take to receive my interlibrary loan item?

Interlibrary loan items can usually take from as little as three days and as many as three weeks to arrive. It depends on how close the item is physically located to North Central University. Students will want to keep this in mind as they request material for a paper or project so that enough time can be allotted to review material.

Does the library have a public fax machine?

No, the Library does not have a public fax machine. Students, staff, and faculty are asked to use the fax machine in the Mail Center located on the first floor of Miller Hall.

Does the library have a copier?

Yes, the copier is located on the basement level of the Library. Copies are $.10 per page.

How can I find an item that my professor put on reserve?

If you access the TJ Jones Library homepage, under resources click on "Jones Search," you will see a faint blue tab that reads "Course Reserve." When you click that tab it will take you to a page where you will need to click on the drop down menus to fill out the information. For example, the instructor of the course and the class. Once you find the item for which you are looking, jot down the call number and take it to the Circulation desk. One of our friendly staff members would be happy to retreive your item for you.

How can I search for an item in the library?

You can search the Library's catalog for an item by visiting the TJ Jones Library homepage. Under resources you will see a link that says, "Jones Search," click that link and type in your search terms.
