Frequently Asked Questions: Health Insurance
Frequently Asked Questions: Health Insurance
Can insurance premiums be added to my student account and paid by financial aid?
Unfortunately, you must pay UnitedHealth Care directly. They will accept cash, check, or credit card.
Is payment needed with application?
Yes, when you submitting the application payment is required.
Where do we turn in the application?
If you would like to mail the application, there should be a pre-paid envelope included in the packet. All you need to do is drop it in the mail.
You also have the option to sign-up online. You must have a credit card available and the process only takes minutes.
Can I view the brochure and policy online?
Yes, the web address is www.uhcsr.com. Just look for the link that says, “Find my school’s plan.”
Do we need Insurance for the semester/year/ summer?
You will need to show proof of insurance for both semesters of each school year. Purchasing insurance for the entire year or just the summer is optional, but nice to have in case your health deteriorates.
Is there a deadline to enroll?
No, but please keep in mind the premiums cannot be lowered if you sign up halfway through the semester.
When will I get my policy number?
The quickest way to get your policy number is by purchasing the insurance online. There is an option on your user profile to print out a temporary ID card for immediate needs. Your card will have the policy number on it.
If you purchase the insurance by mail please expect the official ID card to arrive in two to three weeks.
Will I be automatically approved?
If you are a current student at NCU you qualify for this insurance. Taking a semester off or withdrawing from school will eliminate the coverage.
Is it good insurance?
Our insurance policy is inexpensive, so the coverage is minimal. If this is your only form of insurance it will provide some reimbursement for medical costs, but please keep in mind there will be out of pockets costs.
If you would like to see coverage increases please take to Peter Hansen about your needs and he will take the ideas to the insurance representative.
Can my spouse or other family members be on this plan?
Only current NCU students are allowed to receive coverage. Children and spouses not attending NCU cannot enroll in this insurance.
Does this need to be renewed each year? If so, how is this done?
Yes, the new plan is usually available in mid-July. If you set-up an online account you can enroll for the new school year at that time. Otherwise, our office will have the new forms by the time the school year begins.
