Major Specific Requirements

Major Specific Requirements for Non-Piano Majors:

Vocal Majors

  • Ability to play a simple art song accompaniment. May be prepared ahead and is selected from a group of recommended accompaniments. See Student Guide
  • Play two standard vocalize patterns chromatically. These patters should be played with good rhythmic flow and excellent tone quality. Choose from the selection in the Student Guide. (The first pattern is required!)

Instrumental Majors

  • Play a simple accompaniment from instrumental literature. May be prepared ahead and should be selected from a group of recommended accompaniments. See Student Guide.

Guitar/Bass/Percussion/Drum Majors

  • Play a common bass line from a chord chart/musical score on the piano and be able to transpose it to any key. May be prepared ahead and should be selected from the group of recommended bass lines in the Student Guide.
  • Play the standard tuning pitches for acoustic and 5 string bass guitar on the piano.
