Iowa District

The Iowa District office is constantly processing resumes sent to the office. All resumes are reviewed and follow-up is made on the listed references by means of a reference questionnaire form. If the reference responses are favorable, the Iowa District office will then contact the applicant's current Superintendent and Presbyter or other contacts to learn more about the applicant. After this, an attempt is made to match an applicant with a church or churches.

The applicant's resume is then forwarded to the pulpit committee of the church(es). The pulpit committee is encouraged to do its own follow-up and determine if it is interested in meeting with the applicant. When an applicant is selected, the church will invite the applicant for an interview and possibly a try-out service. An Iowa District representative is present to conduct a business meeting when a candidate is chosen.

The Iowa District Office posts a bi-monthly list of open churches in the District News that is mailed to all the churches and ministers of the state of Iowa. North Central University students who are interested in open churches in Iowa should send a resume to the Iowa District Office. The Iowa District Office will follow-up on the references and will complete the process outlined above.

Minnesota District

Open churches (churches without a Senior Pastor) are placed on an "Open Church List" which includes the name of the contact person, address, and phone number. This list is only mailed to those requesting information on Open Churches and have provided the Minnesota District with an updated resume as well as a completed Personal Data Sheet (PDS). The Minnesota District Superintendent will review your resume and PDS and will make the determination if this information is mailed. The person requesting this information must be credentialed with the Assemblies of God.

The Minnesota District will only provide names/resumes to churches that request their help in finding a Senior Pastor. It is up the respective congregation's Pulpit Search Committee to handle this. If it is a District Supervised church or Home Missions church, then the Minnesota District Home Missions Director is usually the Contact Person and the pastor is appointed (with the approval of the congregation).

A listing of open churches may be found in the monthly Superintendent Newsletter mailed to all Minnesota District credentialed ministers. It is not mailed outside of the Minnesota District. Any North Central University seniors who are at least in the process of seeking A/G credentials may contact the District Office directly to obtain a listing of open churches.

Individuals seeking open staff positions should contact the Department heads of the Minnesota District directly.

Nebraska District

General Council Affiliated Churches:

The Nebraska District Council cooperates with the church to help in any way it can. This usually involves a visit with the Nebraska District Superintendent and the board/search committee to discuss the pastoral search process. If it desires, the Nebraska District Office sends the church copies of resumes that come to the District that it believes may be possibilities for the open church. Only if the church requests does the District contact potential candidates in which the church is interested.

District-Affiliated and/or Home Missions Churches:

Many of these churches are being considered revitalization churches. The Nebraska District typically seeks candidates who have been through church Revitalization Boot Camp training. In addition, the Nebraska District assesses the candidates to determine if he or she is a good candidate for revitalization situations. The "pool" for these candidates has often involved recent college graduates. The Nebraska District Planting/Revitalization Coordinator and Superintendent have taken trips to, or spoken with, representatives from North Central University in search of potential candidates.

The Nebraska District does publish an open church list. An Open Church list is posted in the Nebraska District Ministers' Update monthly newsletter. This publication goes primarily to ministers and those involved in ministries associated with the Nebraska District (Teen Challenge directors, etc.). Anyone can request a current list of open churches by sending a current resume and letter of good standing from your current District Superintendent.
