Spring Welcome Days

Greetings from the Student Development Office!
The time is quickly approaching when you will bring your student to NCU. While there is a great deal of excitement that comes with this event, there is also a natural bit of anxiety about what type of experience he or she will have.
I want to assure you that we are thoughtfully and prayerfully planning for your student’s first few days on campus. Our orientation program is designed to not only orient your student to campus, but also to help your student find his or her place here on our campus. Our goal is to see new students integrated into campus life as smoothly as possible.
We know that for many of you, traveling to NCU may mean missing work or ministry obligations; however, this is one of the most important times in your child’s life. Your son or daughter will greatly appreciate the effort you make to be a part of this important day. We also encourage you to join us on the 24-25th for events like our Welcome Picnic, Parents' Orientation, or Sunday's Convocation Service.
The admissions office will be in contact with your student in the next few weeks in regards to housing, financial aid, bill payment, and other pertinent topics. Please take time to be involved in this process, as your student’s college experience begins before they arrive on campus.
If there are any specific questions you have before the time you arrive on campus, please do not hesitate to call our office at 612.343.4451 or email me.

When should I arrive?
Incoming students and their families should plan to arrive at North Central for check-in on January 14th according the following schedule:
| Last Names | Check-in Time |
| all last names | 9:00 a.m. |
How do I check in to my residence hall?
All students will begin the check-in process in the Atrium of the Trask Word and Worship Center. Once you have completed the check-in process our student leaders will assist you in receiving your keys and moving into your room.
Can I move into my room before January 14th, 2013?
All incoming students may move into their housing assignment on January 14th, 2013. If an extracurricular activity requires you to be on campus before this date you will be contacted by the appropriate department for those arrangements.
How can I find out about my roommate(s)?
When your application is received by our Housing Coordinator, your housing placement should be completed within five business days. You will then receive your roommate information via your NCU e-mail address. You may also check your housing status on Unet at any time.
When should commuter students arrive?
All commuter students should check-in during the designated check in time on January 14th, 2013. Following check in we encourage you to purchase your books before the evening activities. The commuter lounge will be open for any free time you might have.
Parents: should they come or not?
Yes! Parents should plan on being with their student during the entire check-in process. A special orientation and reception is provided for parents on Monday afternoon. Have your parents check out the parent’s section of this site for more information.
If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Community Life Coordinator Peter Hansen via the Community Life office.
What is Parents' Orientation?
Parents’ Orientation is an opportunity for the families of incoming North Central students to learn about the community at North Central and interact with staff and administrators. There are several departments represented for parents ranging from what life in the Residence Halls is like, how the Student Success Center can benefit your child, the history of NCU and much more. Please plan on joining us for this exciting time.
