These apartments were purchased in 1981. The five Walace Orfield Apartments contain 70 apartments, housing over 140 students. These buildings are used for student housing and are the largest apartment complex on campus. They are on the main campus and a number of the apartments have a great view of downtown Minneapolis.
The Orfield Apartments are primarily efficiency or one-bedroom units, housing one, two, or three students. Each apartment unit has a kitchen containing a refrigerator, stove, sink, and cupboard space. Orfield Apartments have air conditioning, a secure entry system, and voicemail service. In order to qualify to live in the Orfield Apartments, students must be at least 21 years old, 20 years old with 60 accumulated credits, 19 years old with 80 accumulated credits, or married. These apartments are not wheelchair accessible.

All furniture must be purchased by the students. The university does not rent or provide furniture for the apartment.
