Dr. Tracy Paino is filled with a sense of humor, courage, and adventure that bring life to the classes that he teaches. Dr. Paino is a believer in the value of intentional leadership and relational ministry. He has been a youth pastor, church planter, lead pastor, college professor, basketball coach, rock-climbing guide, and motivational speaker. He has spoken for churches, conferences, camps, Fortune 500 companies, schools, school districts, small groups, and large assemblies.
After serving as a youth pastor for the first 10 years of his ministry in Indiana and Ohio, Dr. Paino became a church planter and pastor. He has been an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God since 1986 and came to North Central University in 1996 to be the Youth Ministry Specialist. Most recently, he has served as the Executive Chair of the Departments of Church Leadership, chair of the Student Ministries Department, Co-Founder of the Center for Youth and Leadership, and Full Professor. Dr. Paino has taught classes in youth ministry, pastoral ministry, Biblical studies, theology, business management, skiing, and rock climbing. As the head women’s basketball coach for four years, he was twice named regional coach of the year and still holds NCU’s record for most wins.
He was certified with the American Mountain Guide Association as a rock climbing instructor and guide and enjoys introducing others to the challenges and beauty of this sport. Additionally, he oversees students who are completing their internships for the College of Ministry at NCU. Dr. Paino developed the Youth Development Studies major, which prepares students for social, community, and para-church work, and was instrumental in the formation of the Center for Youth and Leadership (www.youthandleadership.com).
Along with his wife, Debbie, he resides in Apple Valley, MN. They have two daughters, one son, a daughter-in-law, and five beautiful granddaughters.
