Non-students enter building - involved in burglary

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

On 4/14/2009 at approximately 7:04pm  four Somalian male youth were let into Phillipps Hall. These individuals made their way through Phillipps Hall Clay Commons, Classrooms and some 2nd floor dorm rooms. Items were stolen from Clay Commons and dorm rooms. The individuals left Phillipps Hall at approximately 7:16pm.

This incident may have been prevented if some precautionary measures had been followed:

Do not grant access to buildings to people you do not know or that are not wearing a North Central ID card.

Direct any guests or unknown individuals to the front door of Miller Hall to contact the Security Office. Do not allow unknown individuals to walk through the building.

If you see anyone on-campus that you feel is suspicious please contact the Security Office.

Treat your dorm room like an apartment; lock your door.

Do not feel bad denying people access to a building. Simply direct them to the Security Office. If they really are a guest Security is able to provide them with the items that they will need while visiting campus, such as a map or a parking permit. If they are not a legitimate guest directing them to the Security Office will often serve as a deterrent.

If you have any questions or concerns about guests or individuals on campus please contact the Security Office at 612.343.4445.
