Security Alert: Mugging On-Campus
North Central Security provides information to assist our community in working towards a safer environment. When an incident or cause for concern occurs, the Security Department will send out an update regarding the incident.
North Central University Security Department received notification from a NCU constituent that they were mugged by the Del Kingsriter Center around 6am June 1st, 2010. The victim was crossing 10th and Centennial place and was approached by two African American males – medium build, late teens/early 20s, one with corn-row braids and the other with short hair. The subjects threw a punch and attempted to grab the constituent’s bag. The police were notified of the incident, if you have any information regarding this situation, please contact the Minneapolis Police Department at 612.673.3081.
Safety tips on protecting yourself:
•Obtain an escort by the Security Department and always walk in groups of three or more.
•Remember that you are in a city and the risk of incidents increase between dusk and dawn.
•Go with your underlying feelings. If you are perceiving a potential situation try to remove yourself as quickly as possible.
•If held at gunpoint, cooperate as much as possible unless cooperating would place you in greater harm. Do not go with an assailant to another location.
•Be aware of your surroundings at all times. If you feel uneasy, immediately proceed to a more populated area.
•If you are assaulted in any way, be aware of your assailants. Look at their clothing and face, listen to their voice, notice anything about their demeanor that will assist you in later identifying them.
