Adjunct Faculty Information

Attend the Adjunct Open House on January 15th to obtain your contract. Please sign and return contract as soon as possible. Pay information will not be submitted to the payroll office until your contract and paperwork listed below are returned to the Academic Affairs office.
Paperwork
The following items must be turned in to your department administrative assistant in order for your contract to be processed and your pay to be distributed according to schedule:
- Completed Application (includes Lifestyle Statement and Fundamental Truths Statement)
- Résumé
- Transcripts (highest level of completed education)
- W-4 (Accounting webpage)
- I-9 (Accounting webpage)
- Adjunct Faculty Manual Receipt (You will receive Faculty Manual Receipt at the Adjunct Open house on August 21. Please read over the Adjunct Faculty Manual and become familiar with its contents.)
FERPA Training
All NCU employees are required by law to receive training regarding the Federal Educational Right to Privacy Act rules and regulations. It is mandatory for all adjunct professors to receive this training in order to be paid by the University. Please note that attendance will be taken at all sessions and adjunct faculty are required to attend only one session. Please notify your department administrative assistant which time slot you will be attending to ensure adequate materials are available. FERPA Training will be held at the following times:

Sexual Harassment Training
Complete Sexual Harassment Training within 30 days of hire.
ID Card & Parking Pass
You can obtain a NCU ID card and parking pass from the Security Office located on the first floor of Miller Hall. This can be done during the Adjunct Open House.
Class Preparation
Ordering Books
Once your class schedule is established, it is important to order books and other material through the NCU Bookstore immediately. The bookstore can provide a list of curriculum that has been used in the past for the class you are teaching. The bookstore needs written confirmation of what you are ordering. Please fill out an online or printable Textbook Adoption Form. Please call the bookstore at 612-343-7887 and speak to Doug Ward (Manager) or Marlana Wenzel (Assistant Manager) to discuss questions.
Syllabi
Submit an electronic copy of your syllabus to your department administrative assistant and a paper copy to the mail center by August 22. Click on the following link to see a sample syllabus. A specific syllabus for a class can be obtained from your department administrative assistant. Please name the electronic copy in the following format:
COMM123 Your Name 2008FL
or for lessons: MUSL Instrument(or voice)Your Name 2008FL
Also be sure to include the following italicized statement in your syllabi: “Academic dishonesty is a serious breech of conduct at North Central University and violations can result in serious discipline including the possibility of dismissal from the University. Academic dishonesty is defined as intentional plagiarism, cheating, fabricating or attempting to help others to be dishonest which includes, but is not limited to, roster fraud and attendance deception.” (Refer to Academic Integrity Policy, in the current North Central University catalog for detailed definitions and descriptions.)
Important Dates
Please look over the list of Important Dates as you plan your classes. For up-to-date information on upcoming events, see the NCU Master Calendar. This calendar can be accessed as such:
- Outlook: Open Outlook (see I.T. tip: E-mail address lookup in Outlook Web Access) and select Calendar on the left menu. Once in Calendar view, select "Open a Shared Calendar..." When the window appears, select "Name" and scroll down to find "mastercalendar." Click OK twice and "mastercalendar" should now appear under the "Other Calendars" menu on the left. Click on the box and it will appear on your screen.

- Early Alert Notification—(For struggling students)
- E-mail—Your Department Administrative Assistant will communicate with the NCU Information Technology Department to see that an email account is set up for you. You will receive your password and additional directions via inter-campus mail. Please note that at this time important announcement from the Academic Affairs office will be sent to this email account only, not to personal or external accounts. You are responsible for checking your email account for this information.
- Inter-Campus Mail—Will be sent to your interoffice mailbox from different offices from within the college as well as any outside mail sent to you at the NCU address. The Administrative Assistant will instruct you where your box is located.

- Payroll—Questions can be directed to Diane Canfield (Payroll Specialist) at 612-343-4412. Please note that failure to submit any of the required documentation will delay your pay.
