Steps to Receiving Aid
Freshman
For students entering college in the fall, the FAFSA may be filed after January 1st of that same year. The FAFSA is used by the Government to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and your eligibility for need-based aid. NCU also uses the information from the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for receiving some types of NCU Financial Aid. You must file a FAFSA before you can receive an official financial aid Award Letter from NCU.
Approximately one to three weeks after filing the FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) either by e-mail or mail, which will list your FAFSA information. Review the data on the SAR for accuracy. If you need to make corrections, follow the instructions on the SAR or contact North Central’s Financial Aid Office. North Central will receive your FAFSA results electronically about the same time you receive the SAR if you listed North Central as one of your school choices on the FAFSA.
The Financial Aid Office will review your information and contact you if additional documentation or information is needed. You may be asked to provide copies of prior year federal income tax returns and additional forms verifying information listed on the FAFSA.
Note: Not all students will be selected for verification. If you are selected, the Financial Aid Office cannot continue to process your file until the verification documents are received.
The following scholarships and discounts require additional applications:
- Church Match Scholarship
- Senior Teen Bible Quiz Scholarship
- Minister, Minister Dependent, Missionary and Missionary Dependent Discounts
- Regent’s Scholarship.
NCU’s Financial Aid office will send an email notifying you that your financial aid has been awarded. This email will be sent to your NCU address and the address you listed on your FAFSA. Once you have received this email you can login in to your Unet account to view and accept your awards. You will also be able to see if there are any additional steps you need to complete in order to receive your awards.
