Position Purpose

The Admissions Coordinator/PSEO counselor serves as the Admissions Department receptionist, project manager, and counselor for PSEO and reapplicant students. This position is also responsible to greet and serve those requesting information from the Admissions Office, assist with processing mail and email communications, and assist with special projects as assigned.

Core Responsibilities:

40% Front Office Management

  • Serve as department receptionist by taking phone calls, greeting people who physically enter the office and either serve them personally or notify the appropriate person they should meet
  • Manage the admissions inbox and forward e-mails to appropriate Admissions team member
  • Answer phone calls and either personally answer questions or transfer the call to the appropriate office or person
  • Keep office supplies stocked and order supplies as needed
  • Assist in managing Admissions inventory, including but not limited to: print collateral, giveaways, office supplies, and recruitment supplies
  • Responsible for copying, filing, faxing as needed

40% PSEO and Reapplicant Students

  • Develop relationships with new students and their families
  • Communicate by email, phone, social media, and text with prospective students from the inquiry stage until the matriculated stage
  • Review applications for admission and make acceptance decisions
  • Work closely with the PSEO coordinator to create a positive new student experience
  • Facilitate reapplicant review with student financial services, registrar, and student development
  • Assist and advise students during the financial aid process
  • Participate in on-campus and off-campus events to bring awareness to the programs NCU has to offer
  • Some travel may be required

10% Assist the Processing Department

  • Input prospective student data acquired from various sources into Salesforce
  • Serve as a support person for both the recruitment and processing efforts of the department
  • Assist with data entry projects as needed

10% Other Duties as Assigned

  • Assist the Director of Admissions with recruitment related projects
  • Assist with scholarship communication

Job Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably from North Central University
  • Counselor must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be willing to live within the lifestyle statement of the University.
  • Previous sales and/or customer service experience
  • Bilingual Spanish skills preferred
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Desire to be in the position for 2+ years

  • Excellent communication skills, both one –on- one and in front of larger groups
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Has an understanding of North Central community, including the spiritual atmosphere, campus living, organizations and ministries, majors and curriculum and the opportunities of the Twin Cities area
  • Thoroughly understands the admissions strategy and procedures
  • Knowledgeable about university policies in the areas of housing, financial aid, parking and academic programs
  • Ability to be self-motivated and self-managed to meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead and direct various projects
  • Possess effective leadership and managerial skills to oversee student volunteers
  • Work involves collaboration with a team of other admissions personnel in an office setting
  • Requires working independently in a fast-paced environment and adapting to a variety of roles with multiple demands

 

Working Conditions

Environmental Conditions

  • Position involves exposure to repetitive motion of the fingers, hands, and wrists on a daily basis.
  • Position involves long periods of time walking (tours), standing (presenting), and sitting (desk work)
  • Work environment involves working in an urban, Christ-centered community

Equipment and Tools

  • Use of a PC, photocopier, fax machine, and telephone—approximately 70% of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
