Some brief biographical information for each of these new faculty members follows below.
Karen Harrington: Karen Harrington holds an undergraduate degree in social work from Minot State University, and completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Illinois in 1998. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of IL as well as a Licensed Direct Child Welfare Services Employee, and has worked for the past 20 years in child welfare - primarily with kids who were abused and neglected and their families.
"Every day I see evidence that the world truly needs a Savior - and not just any Savior but the one and only true and living Savior. My prayer every day in going to work is that my life would reflect the love of Jesus to those who need Him most," said Harrington."I am awed that God would choose me for this mission and I am excited to be a part of the work that He is doing in the lives of the students at NCU!"
Steve Cook: Steve Cook attended Oral Roberts University (a very long time ago, he tells us) where He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. He has been writing songs, producing and engineering Christian music for over 25 years and is very much looking forward to equipping and helping the next generation fulfill their call in God at North Central University!
Steve's family includes his wife, Vikki, of 29 years, who is a talented singer and songwriter who home schooled their daughters for a total of 12 years, and two daughters, Stephanie, age 22 and Suzanna, age 20. Suzanna will be attending NCU this fall.
Todd Wold: While Todd Wold is new to the NCU faculty, he is certainly not a stranger to the University, having spent his first three years of higher education as a student at NCU (1988-1991). Todd tells us he has wonderful memories of professors and friends at NCU that impacted his life greatly.
Having spent nearly 18 years in the corporate world of communication, PR and marketing, Todd is excited to become a part of the faculty and academic community at NCU. He holds an undergraduate degree in Communication with a Journalism emphasis from Northwestern College, and completed his Master of Arts in Communication at Bethel University, with his Masters project focusing on commercial media literacy training for church leaders.
"As a University instructor of communication arts and media" says Wold,"one of my goals is to move students from the passive role of media consumers toward an active autonomy as media scholars who can ethically apply their unique perspectives and Christian worldview on media to help advance the communication disciplines body of knowledge, while advancing the kingdom of God."
Greg Hayton: Greg Hayton came to North Central in 1997 after providing 14 years of leadership, including 11 as athletics director, at Rockford Christian Life High School in Rockford, IL from 1983 to 1996. As athletics director at NCU, Hayton played a key role in the ongoing process of moving into NCAA III an affiliation which will provide numerous outlets for national recognition for our athletic teams and individual competitors.
Now as a faculty member in the Education Department, Hayton will draw on his experience in both secondary and higher education to provide quality instruction to students in the area of Secondary Education.
