Exciting Times at NCU as Semester Begins

Date: September 7, 2010 - 7:23am

Minneapolis, MN- The start of a new semester is always an exciting time at North Central University. The streets of NCU start to come alive as students make their way to the campus, some as first time students, others returning for another year. Fall 2010 was no exception.

NCU welcomed new students and their families to campus on Saturday, August 28th. Known on campus as “Super Saturday”, it served as opportunity for new students to move into their residence halls and get to know fellow students and resident leadership, while also becoming acquainted with NCU’s campus life and routine.

On Tuesday, August 31st, NCU hosted a “Block Party” for the entire NCU community, which included staff, faculty, and students. The event offered food, activities, and time for fellowship and mingling the night prior to classes beginning.

In addition to excitement about their classes, students greatly anticipated the first week of Chapel services. Jeff Deyo and student-led band One Accord kicked off the first day, while Dr. Tracy Paino and Dr. Gordon Anderson were featured speakers during the week’s services (Listen to Chapel Sermons). To cap off the first day of classes, Praise Gathering, the weekly evening worship experience solely led by students, set a tone of expectancy for the year.

The Athletics Department was also busy at work as they hosted a press conference announcing their membership into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III. The press conference included words from various NCU administrators, athletics staff, and student athletes (Watch the press conference).
