North Central Remembers Rev. Grace Adam
Minneapolis, MN- Grace Adam, generous donor and alumna of North Central University, co-founder of KNOF FM and Selby Gospel Broadcasting, passed away on December 22, 2011.
Grace Caroline Gifford was born to Mr. & Mrs. Frank (Florence) Gifford on September 6, 1915 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Grace fell in love with Fred Adam and they were married in June of 1933 in Minneapolis.
In the Fall of 1948, Grace enrolled at North Central Bible Institute (North Central University) to prepare for full time vocational ministry. She received her license to preach from the North Central District of the Assemblies of God on June 30, 1950. Grace graduated from the school in the Spring of 1951 with a degree in pastoral ministry.
Fred and Grace Adam founded the radio station KNOF in 1960. The Selby Gospel Broadcasting Corporation was a full gospel ministry with a combination of teaching and preaching along with southern gospel music. At the time it was only the third FM license granted in the St. Paul/Minneapolis metropolitan area. Grace and Fred were not only pioneers in FM radio media, they were among the first to utilize it for the propagation of the Gospel.
In August 2007, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the transfer of control of Selby Gospel Broadcasting Corporation to North Central University, as a gift to the university at the request of Rev. Grace Adam.
Currently, KNOF (95.3 FM) in partnership with Praise FM operates from new state of the art studios on the campus of North Central.
Praise FM is a listener supported, worship radio station serving the Twin Cities, Central Minnesota, Eastern South Dakota, South Eastern North Dakota and Africa through radio broadcasts, and serving the world through live internet broadcasts.
