Partners for Progress 2012
Minneapolis, MN – North Central University was honored to host the annual Partners for Progress banquet on October 23, 2012 at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest. North Central alumni, partners and friends gathered for a wonderful celebration of NCU's past, present, and exciting future. The event provides an opportunity to hear president Dr. Gordon Anderson's vision for the future of NCU, hear wonderful testimonies and great music, and see how God is working through the NCU family.
The theme of this year's banquet was "Unfinished Business", recognizing not only the physical work remaining to be done on campus, but also the spiritual work still to be done in the lives of students. North Central and its partners understand the value of investing in the continued renovation and improvement of residence halls and dorm rooms on campus and realize how important it is to each student's future.
This year's guest speaker was Dr. Jim Bradford, Assemblies of God General Secretary. Dr. Bradford reminded everyone of the importance in investing in North Central's "Unfinished Business." He urged those attending to support an institution like NCU where for more than 80 years, they have provided a foundation of growth for young men and women who have gone on to exemplify the love and power of Jesus Christ worldwide, both in ministry and the marketplace.
One of the more deeply moving moments of the night came from the video testimony of alum and missionary to Cambodia, Dareth Ly ('93), this year's recipient of the Young Alumnus Award. Dareth spoke of his difficult childhood in Cambodia and the atrocities he witnessed at the hands of the Khmer Rouge. You can view his video online at this link:
In addition to a wonderful dinner and great speakers, the evening included musical performances by NCU's One Accord, worship artist and faculty member Jeff Deyo, and the North Central University Chorale, who provided one of the evening's highlights with a moving rendition of the spiritual, "Ride on, Jesus Ride."
All of the funds raised at the 2012 event will go towards continued renovation and improvement of residence halls on our physical campus.
