Minneapolis, Minn. - North Central University Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team was named a Regional Champion at the SIFE USA Regional Competition held in Minneapolis, MN, March 22, 2012.

The event was one of 11 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held across the United States and marks the third consecutive year that NCU SIFE has been named regional champions.

“I'm incredibly proud of how hard our students worked this year to honor the Lord,” said Bill Tibbetts, SIFE mentor, assistant professor of Business Administration and Sam Walton Fellow. “Our NCU SIFE team has diligently worked to be a relevant influence on the Elliot park neighborhood, the community that has been home to North Central for so many years.”

NCU SIFE is one of nearly 600 programs in the United States. Participating students use business concepts to develop community outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

During this academic year, the NCU SIFE team organized 11 projects in the Twin Cities, including:  Elliot Park Night to Unite, Operation Lunch and Interview Me.

The culmination of the SIFE program is the annual series of competitions that provide a forum for teams to present the results of their projects and to be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. Teams compete first at the regional and national levels, then at the international level when the national champion teams from each country meet at the SIFE World Cup.

As a SIFE USA Regional Champion, the NCU SIFE team now advances to the 2012 SIFE USA National Exposition in Kansas City, MO, May 22-24.
