Date: April 4, 2012 - 2:50pm

Minneapolis, MN- April 4, 2012 - The Board of Regents and Administration of North Central University are proud to announce Courtney Strasburg as the 2012 Regent’s Scholarship recipient.

The Regent’s Scholarship is a full-tuition renewable scholarship awarded to first-time entering freshmen each year, based on superior academic performance, references, and a written essay. Courtney, a current student at Fall Creek Senior High School in Fall Creek, Wisconsin is an outstanding student, church leader, and community member who is active in sharing about the Kingdom.

“We are delighted to award Courtney with the prestigious Regent’s Scholarship," said Troy Pearson, Executive Director of Enrollment. "Courtney is an impressive individual that exemplifies the consummate North Central student. We are honored to know that she will be bringing her gifts, leadership abilities and compassionate spirit to North Central. There is no question in our minds that she will strongly impact our campus for years to come.”

Being passionate about stepping out of her comfort zone and meeting people, Courtney has been involved in many activities in her community. She has taken three missions trips to New Orleans, Louisiana to assist in rebuilding a broken community. She leads a small group of middle school girls who are reminded weekly of Christ’s love as she pours love over their lives. Passionate about music, Courtney participates in multiple honor bands and ensembles, sharing the beautiful music with all who are blessed to hear them. As a part of National Honor Society, she assists in raising money for community events, and feeds those in needs at the local soup kitchen. Even after all of her commitments, she finds the time to have two jobs. Staying busy at school never deterred Courtney from staying focused on her studies as she maintained an exceptional Grade Point Average. Dedicated to academic excellence, she completed all of schoolwork with discipline and commitment.

Above all, Courtney has proved her exceptional character and humility to her community as she strives to reflect the life of Jesus in all that she does. Her faith is the core of who she is. Courtney says, “…I am awestruck time and time again as I experience His Goodness…His love for me never fails, and I am learning each day how to live in the grace and mercy I do not deserve, yet am so incredibly blessed with.” Recognizing this grace, Courtney genuinely invests in the lives of her peers, her teachers, her co-workers, and her church members.

Courtney is looking forward to coming to North Central in the fall to pursue a degree in Mathematics. Of attending North Central University she said, “I thought the campus life and community at NCU was going to be exactly like all the other schools I had visited. I had never been more wrong about a school in my life. North Central was and is the school I have been waiting for. It was the first and only place that I felt truly belonged to and could be a part of.”
