2013 Regent's Scholarship Awarded
Minneapolis, MN- April 18, 2013 - The Board of Regents and Administration of North Central University are proud to announce Jaclyn Anderson as the 2013 Regent’s Scholarship recipient.
The Regent’s Scholarship is a full-tuition renewable scholarship awarded to a first-time entering freshmen each year, based on superior academic performance, references, and a written essay. Jaclyn, a current senior at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN is an outstanding student, church leader, and talented musician who uses music to brighten others’ lives. She is the daughter of Andy and Jeanie Anderson, both of whom are North Central alumni.
Jaclyn has excelled in Academics throughout high school, taking many accelerated courses and college courses to further her studies. She has maintained an exceptional GPA and is in the top 5% of her graduating class. Jaclyn is a member of her high school’s National Honor Society, and volunteers between 20-40 hours every semester at a variety of local organizations.
Jaclyn is also a leader in her church, where she is a part of the Student Leadership Program, speaking, mentoring, and ministering to her church youth group. She has also travelled to Guatemala to work in an orphanage with underprivileged children.
Alongside her faith, music has been central to Jaclyn’s life. She has sung in honor choirs throughout high school, and most recently sang in a very selective chamber choir. This year she won the South Suburban All-Conference Award, given to seniors who exemplify hard work, dedication, and a passion for music. She is also a talented stage performer, starring as Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” and Babe O’Day in “Good News!” as well as performance in the MSHSL One Act Play Festival.
Jaclyn is looking forward to coming to North Central in the Fall, where she plans on studying Music Education. Jaclyn wants to use her love of music, love of God, and love of academia to pursue a career helping people in need. Her goal is to “leave college a confident warrior for Christ and a compassionate lover of good,” and she knows that “attending NCU will help me to keep my focus on God, and will completely prepare me to be a servant of the Lord, wherever I go, for the rest of my life.”
