DR. TOM BURKMAN knows the ins-and-outs of teaching and administration in both the public and private realms of education. He incorporates his past experiences as well as his knowledge in curriculum and staff development, technology assessment, guidance counseling, consulting and hands-on teaching, to inspire audiences to personal success and professional growth.
Dr. Tom Burkman has studied learning for over 25 years and has held positions in all levels of teaching and administration. From driver education instructor to junior high science teacher to high school principal.
Outside the classroom, Tom knows how to take on the "heavy hitters." He officiated college football for 20 years in the NCAA Division II and Division III. In 1998, he was awarded the Football Official of the Year Award for his officiating of high school football.
To further his pursuit of developing effective teachers, Tom founded Creekside Consultants, a consulting company of teaching and learning specialists. The consulting firm received praise from education professionals for the innovative yet practical ways the firm's seminars helped both novice and struggling teachers better manage their time, their classrooms and their professional relationships.
Dr. Burkman motivates audiences to adapt to new learning styles, enhance their professional performance and improve their methods of communicating to students and peers.
