Biography

Todd was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, before moving to the United States to further his education. Todd met his wife, Katie, while he was completing his undergraduate work before moving to Springfield, Missouri to attend the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. Todd and Katie relocated to the Twin Cities area towards the end of 2002 to be closer to her family.

 

Todd is the first full-time personal and career development counselor to join the NCU staff, but has an interesting history in a variety of counseling settings. Todd likes to approach counseling in a very interactive, participatory fashion. As a visual learner himself, he finds creative ways to work with students to help them through whatever situation they are struggling with. Todd has dealt with his fair share of crisis situations while working in several residential treatment center settings and Missouri’s premier in-patient child and adolescent psychiatric hospital. Professionally, Todd is licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Licensed Professional Counselor [LPC] in addition to holding the credentials of being a National Certified Counselor [NCC] and an Approved Clinical Supervisor [ACS]. In regard to organizational affiliations, Todd is a member of the American Counseling Association, American College Counseling Association, and the Association of Christians in Student Development. In addition to this, Todd also serves as North Central's men's Golf Coach.

 

Todd’s passion for working with students to understand and take ownership of their “life’s call” is evident from the time you begin a conversation with him. His laid back, easy natured Australian charisma is something every student should experience before leaving NCU.

Biography

Rachel grew up in northern Virginia just outside of Washington, DC. She spent a year at Evangel University in Springfield, MO before transferring to North Central to complete her degree in Education.She met her husband Nick at North Central and they now live in St. Paul.

 

In addition to providing academic support, Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge to assist students in navigating through North Central University. As a graduate of NCU with professional experiences working in both the Student Success Center and Student Life, Rachel quickly understands exactly what students are facing when they seek out her services. Rachel’s warm, understanding nature is experienced from the moment one begins a conversation with her; and her love for NCU drives her desire to see others succeed.

 

Rachel is a teacher licensed by the State of Minnesota. She also holds professional affiliations with the National Association of Developmental Education and the Minnesota Association of Higher Education and Disability.

Biography

Amanda and her husband, Jerod, spent the last several years living at Northwestern College where her husband was the Resident Director of the men’s dorm. This enabled them both to not only work with the age population they love, but live among them and share life experiences with them.

 

Amanda has an eclectic and diverse style of counseling. Amanda’s approach to counseling is very collaborative. She enjoys engaging with students, learning together, and walking alongside them as they learn more about themselves and who they really are in eyes of God. Through this process, she hopes you see things in a new light. Amanda has a strong passion to work with female students, although enjoys helping all students with present concerns, understand past experiences, and explore spiritual questions. She hopes that you would meet with her without fear or shame, but rather with an eagerness to see change.

Biography

Jill joins the SSC counseling team as a clinical intern from Bethel University, where she is completing her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a dedicated mother to her two children, Caleb (4), and Chloe (8 months). She has a compassionate, gentle demeanor, and seeks to cultivate a safe environment for those she comes in contact with. She has a passion for students dealing with depression and anxiety, as well as a special interest in those dealing with any type of grief or trauma. Jill has a deep desire for students to know and understand hope, as she walks with them through the life journey, providing encouragement and insight along the way.

 

Jill grew up in Rockford, IL, and met her husband Chris while attending Bethel University. After graduation, Chris and Jill lived in Willmar, MN, for five years, before God called them back to Bethel to follow their dream of becoming counselors. They are embarking on their third year living in a dorm at Bethel University, where Chris is a Resident Director.

Biography

Chris was born in Oahu, Hawaii, but was raised most of his life in the suburbs of Minneapolis, where his father was a youth pastor. He and his wife Jill, and two children, Caleb and Chloe, Live at Bethel University where he works as a Resident Director in a Residence Hall made up of Junior and Senoir college students.

 

Chris is a counseling intern at North Central and is completing a Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Chris is very insightful, with his approach to counseling being one of seeking to understand, collaborate, and find solutions. Chris has worked with students who are dealing with anxiety and depression, difficult family situations, or batling to balance daily commitments and pressures. He has also helped roommates resolve conflicts and mentored students simply seeking personal growth. It is his hope that through counseling, students can better realize the person God created them to be and enjoy their life to the fullest degree.
