Dr. Tucker is married to Karen (Bjerke) Tucker. Their son Andrew holds a Ph.D. from Miami University of Ohio and is an aquatic biologist with The Nature Conservancy. He is married to Rebekah (Yoder) a social worker with the Memorial Epworth Center Social Services in South Bend, Indiana. They have two children, Owen and Anna. Their daughter Melissa graduated with a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and is married to Greg Lowther, a computer specialist and organist. They live in Beverly, Massachusetts.
