About:

During Marci’s time at NCU, she spent her BSW gaining a passion for communities and had her field placement working with people experiencing chronic homelessness. After NCU, she went on to work for Thomas Allen Inc. as a Care Coordinator, working with elderly folks on medical assistance for over four years.

During her time at Thomas Allen, Marci began her MSW at the University of Minnesota, choosing to focus on community practice and public policy. In Marci’s field placement for her MSW, she completed a research fellowship. Her research explored the relationship between emotional wellbeing in youth of Color and perceptions held about School Resource Officers.

With a strong heart for advocacy, Marci continues to contribute to projects such as those being worked on by the Minnesota Second Chance Coalition and the Minnesota Justice Research Center. She also is part of a team implementing training for MSW students at the University of Minnesota to lead conversations on racial inequalities and collective liberation.

Marci lives in St. Paul with her husband, Tyler, and their Siberian Husky, Nellie, and hopes to be a sharpening iron for the students at NCU as they will be for her.
