Saving for college has certainly become more complicated due to the current state of our world and economy.<\/p>\n<h2>Learn four ways you can still save money for college during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Find a college that will work with you<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Navigating the world of college finances can be a difficult and confusing task at times. Resources like the Student Financial Services team are important to utilize before and during college to make sure you\u2019re in command of your financial situation.<\/p>\n<p>Most colleges offer convenient virtual meetings during this time, so there\u2019s no need to leave home.<\/p>\n<p>Especially during an unprecedented time like this, NCU is committed to helping students through financially tough times with grants, resources, and one-on-one advising.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Explore scholarship options<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Looking for scholarships is a necessary (and time consuming) part of helping pay for college. While you\u2019re busy visiting colleges (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northcentral.edu\/admissions\/visit\/virtual-visit\/\">virtually<\/a><\/strong>), researching degree programs, and comparing different schools, it can be overwhelming to think about how you will pay for your time at a college or university. But taking time to search for scholarships can have a life-long impact. <strong>Scholarships are essentially \u201cfree\u201d money for college, and they will help you to graduate with the least amount of debt possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So where do you start? How do you know which scholarships to apply for?<\/p>\n<p>Scholarships are available through a variety of channels and a high school counselor can help you find some of the best scholarships to apply for. No matter where you look for scholarships, there will be chances for you to earn free money for college.<\/p>\n<p>The easiest place to find scholarships?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northcentral.edu\/financial-aid\/types-of-aid\/scholarships\/\">Our scholarships page<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NCUFinancialAid\/?referrer=services_landing_page\">NCU Financial Aid on Facebook<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ncufinancialaid\">NCU Financial Aid on Twitter<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Get a summer job (yes, it\u2019s still possible!)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Despite what it seems, summer 2020 isn\u2019t cancelled. Searching for a job right now might be a little tough but that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that many companies are still taking applications, and some are interviewing remotely in an effort to use this time to identify solid candidates, so don\u2019t hesitate to apply if you see a viable position. Just know you may need to follow up and be patient with the process.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, here are a few things you CAN do:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Expand your references: brainstorm more potential connections you could make and update your reference page.<\/li>\n<li>Update your resume: review NCU\u2019s Resume, Cover Letter, References and LinkedIn\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/skyline.northcentral.edu\/create-a-resume\/\">guide<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to create or update your resume.<\/li>\n<li>Expand your knowledge: consider joining a professional association or group that adds value with little cost.<\/li>\n<li>Develop your skills: is there a certification, seminar, or webinar you would benefit from to prepare you for a future job? But every college has a different price tag. Just like any other major purchase, it\u2019s a good idea not to shop outside of your price range. Two similar colleges might have vastly different prices.<\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t assume that the \u201csticker price\u201d is the actual cost of attending any university.
