North Central University has announced that Rev. Gene Roncone, Assemblies of God District Superintendent\/Network Pastor of the Rocky Mountain Ministry Network, will serve as the Moen Chair for Pentecostal Preaching for the fall 2020 semester.<\/p>\n

The Moen Chair role is filled each semester by people who are entrusted to bring an exceptional level of preaching to North Central University students. In his role, Roncone will come to campus twice this semester, not only to preach in chapel but also to spend additional time teaching in the classroom. He will be on campus Oct. 20 and Nov. 18.<\/p>\n

Spirit-driven relevance<\/h3>\n

Roncone\u2019s focus in his chapel time in October will be Spirit-driven Relevance. Describing the topic, Roncone said, \u201cIn today\u2019s competitive ministry culture it all seems to be about relevance, intention and cultural \u2018wokeness.\u2019 But culture is a moving target, and no one can predict the future. Has Pentecostalism become irrelevant in the wake of a secularized culture, political Armageddon, and a national pandemic? How can the Holy Spirit empower us to be relevant when and where the world needs God most?\u201d In his message, Rev. Roncone will reveal why the Spirit of God is the \u201cmost relevant, red hot, and in-touch resource we have in ministry.\u201d<\/p>\n

North Central University President Scott Hagan, Ph.D<\/a>., is thrilled about the fall Moen chair and looks forward to his arrival on campus\u00a0to share his wisdom and experience with students. \u201cI have a special connection with our Moen chair,\u201d Hagan said. \u201cI was actually Gene Roncone\u2019s youth pastor back in the 1980s in San Jose, California. I\u2019ve watched a stellar teenager grow into a national leader for the Kingdom.\u201d<\/p>\n

A ministry of helping<\/h3>\n

Roncone leads the ministry network and provides support, resourcing, and training for nearly 170 churches and 600 ministers serving over 44,000 constituents in Colorado and Utah. He also serves on boards or committees of several organizations, is the host for the Community Podcast and the AG Sectional Presbyter Exchange Podcast, and is a member of the General Presbytery of the Assemblies of God.<\/p>\n

Prior to serving as network pastor, Roncone was the lead pastor of Highpoint Church in Aurora, Colorado, for nearly 17 years. He also served for six years as the Church Development Director\/Assistant to the Superintendent in the Northern California\/Nevada District Office.<\/p>\n

Raised in Youngstown, Ohio, Roncone came to Christ at the age of 16 following a life of drugs and alcohol. He graduated from Bethany University, studied communications at Western Seminary, and organizational development at the University of San Francisco.<\/p>\n

He has a passion for creating community and organizational collaboration. While pastoring, he received Aurora\u2019s Humanitarian of the Year award as well as commendation for community problem solving by the State of Colorado\u2019s House of Representatives, Aurora City Council, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, the Aurora Police Department, the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation, and Aurora Public Schools.<\/p>\n

Roncone is an author of several books including \u201cRise Up,\u201d \u201cIsolation in Ministry,\u201d \u201cExplore the Call,\u201d \u201cPrevailing Over Impossibility,\u201d and \u201cA Season for Legacy.\u201d In his free time he enjoys reading, wilderness camping, and spending time with his wife, Rhonda, their adult children, and their grandchildren.<\/p>\n
