Position Purpose

Carlstrom ASL-Interpreting is seeking adjunct with lab instruction in American Sign Language. Duties included teaching the following courses:

  • American Sign Language Lab I

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.A. in related field preferred; will consider teaching experience as substitute
  • 2 years teaching experience; college teaching experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom
  • Effective pedagogical practices, with an ongoing willingness to grow and develop

Essential Functions

  • Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to college-transfer courses in American Sign Language
  • Develop and teach to the objectives of the American Sign Language curriculum
  • Lead students to demonstrate cultural competence through the exploration of deaf history, deaf culture and community
  • Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning
  • Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements
  • Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students
