Position Purpose

The assistant softball coach is responsible for assisting day-to-day operations and efficiency as it relates to our NCU softball program. This person must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and convey positive leadership skills. Our assistant coach will help oversee 20+ student athletes, recruit, conduct leadership training, help plan practices, hold small group position meetings, and assist with game management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Manage practice, games, training, and conduct meetings
  • Responsible for training modules and training positions as needed
  • Attending weekly team, captain, position, and coaching meetings
  • Conducting recruiting calls, emails, and campus tours for recruits and families
  • Minimum of 4 scheduled days a week on site
  • Evaluations of players and able to build an action plan to improve skill set
  • Able to obtain clearance and operating an NCU van to transport players to and from practices and games
  • Being able to manage practice on own when head coach is gone
  • Being a mentor to all student athletes

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Played Collegiate softball for at least 2 years
  • Have a 4-year degree
  • Able to attend 90% of all practices and games (Fall and Spring)
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Pitching coach, a plus (bonus stipend)
  • Able to lift 40+ lbs
  • Valid driver’s licenses

Hours/Week

10-25 hours/week depending on season

Practice Schedule Fall Season:

Tues & Thurs 3:30 – 6:30 pm
Saturday 9:00 – 11:00 pm

Practice Schedule Spring Season:

  • Mon-Fri 3:00 – 6:00 pm
  • Saturday 9:00 – 12:00 pm
