Position purpose

To maintain the functionality of university facilities through the removal of snow and ice on an on-call basis.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Receive and follow up on all snow removal tasks assigned by Maintenance Supervisor
  • Shoveling assigned areas during & after each snow event in a timely manner
  • Maintain communication with the Maintenance Supervisor via email, text, or phone call
  • Meeting all snow removal requirements for each snow event (i.e., clearing the entire walkway, spreading salt for ice removal, etc.)
  • Working at uncommon hours to meet snow removal requirements
  • Monitor weather conditions and prepare accordingly

Required qualifications/skills

  • Currently enrolled student at NCU
  • Knowledge of basic snow removal practices (shoveling & salting)
  • Ability to communicate well on various platforms to insure shared understanding of information & responsibilities
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Resides in on-campus housing

Additional comments

  • Work environment includes exposure to dust or chemicals and extremes in temperature
  • Snow Removal Technicians are hired for the winter season and the position is a contractual agreement
  • Year-end bonus is included if all job requirements are met during the snow removal season (i.e., arriving on time for each snow event, clearing the snow properly, etc.)

  • 1-2 weeks from interview

Hours/Week:

  • Hours depend on number of snow events during a given time

Operating Hours:

  • 24-7 availability
