NCU Act Six Scholars 2018

Act Six success continues

North Central University is pleased to welcome its third cadre of Act Six scholars, who were introduced on March 13 at a community celebration at Urban Ventures in Minneapolis.
Congratulations to the following new scholars:

  • Isaac Colon, Eagan High School (Eagan)
  • Celena Eamiguel, Roseville Area High School (Roseville)
  • Tian Elder, Hope Academy (Minneapolis)
  • Kevin Escandon-Tellez, Washburn Senior High School (Minneapolis)
  • Evelyn Guzman Jimenez, Kennedy Senior High School (Bloomington)
  • Nkau Xion, Washburn Senior High School (Minneapolis)
  • Ricky Yang, Johnson Senior High (Saint Paul)

“We’re pleased at the continued development of our partnership with Urban Ventures and the Act Six program,” said Michael Price, Chief Enrollment Officer at North Central. “The Act Six scholars at North Central bring great enthusiasm to our campus and we see each individual and each cadre growing in their leadership skills and contributions to NCU life.”

The Act Six program is a partnership with Urban Ventures, a faith-based nonprofit organization breaking the cycle of poverty through programs that empower families to take control of their futures, and five Minnesota college and universities. Act Six Twin Cities is Minneapolis-St. Paul’s only full-tuition, full-need urban leadership award.

The students from North Central’s Cadre 1 and Cadre 2 are active in leadership roles throughout campus. Matthew Vang, a member of the first Act Six cadre at North Central, was recently elected to serve as Student Body President for 2018–19, and several other scholars are serving in leadership roles on campus.

The seven new students will participate in several months of training with fellow Act Six scholars from other participating schools, Bethel University, University of Northwestern-St. Paul, Augsburg College, and Bethany Lutheran College. The students will officially arrive on campus for Welcome Week in August.
