Freshman golfer’s hole-in-one makes history

Freshman Ben Majerle (Little Falls, Minn.) made North Central University history Thursday night, making the first hole-in-one during competition on day one of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships. The hole-in-one is the first-ever in UMAC history.

Majerle made his record-breaking shot on the seventh hole at Alexandria Golf Club which featured an outline of the state of Minnesota. The 186-yard par-three is considered one of the more challenging holes on the 18-hole course.

The Rams went on to finish 9th overall by the end of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, despite improving play as the weekend progressed.

From the UMAC Website: “The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), which is comprised of nine full-time member schools from Minnesota and Wisconsin, began in 1972 as the Twin Rivers Conference and was renamed to its current title in 1983.

Bethany Lutheran College, the College of St. Scholastica, Crown College, Martin Luther College, North Central University, Northland College, the University of Minnesota, Morris, the University of Northwestern, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior make up the league’s full-time membership.”
