North Central University (NCU) President Scott Hagan has announced the selection of Oscar Mendoza as NCU’s next vice president of business and finance beginning in March 2018.
Mendoza arrives at a pivotal time for North Central, as it has recently contracted with DLR Group (Minneapolis) to engage in a facility master planning process. Mendoza will oversee this endeavor, which will explore ways to utilize NCU’s 12.5-acre campus in the East Town area of Minneapolis to meet needs for NCU and the surrounding community.
Serving most recently as executive pastor at Christ Church in Rockaway, New Jersey, Mendoza has also held key leadership roles in hospitals, churches, and higher education. He served as an accountant and later division administrator at Columbia University in the City of New York, and as director of operations for the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. An ordained minister in the Assemblies of God, Mendoza has worked for several non-profit organizations and is the founder and CEO of National Latino Institute for Family Enrichment, Inc. (NLIFE).
Originally from Nicaragua, Mendoza holds an accounting degree from Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York, certification in Corporate Management and Business Communication from Columbia University, and a Master of Divinity in Family Education from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Dr. Samuel Rodriguez, founder and president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC/CONEL)—America’s largest Hispanic Evangelical organization—endorsed Mendoza’s selection, saying, “Oscar’s acumen and expertise will serve President Hagan’s vision with Christ-filled deliberation.”
Jan Haas, of CFO Colleague, has served as interim vice president of business and finance, and will work as a consultant through the spring to aid in the transition.
