Cross Country dominates with team, individual honors at NCCAA National Championships

Four North Central University teams wrapped up their 2015 seasons with competitions at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships, held Nov. 12–14 in Houghton, NY and Kissimmee, FL. Men’s and Women’s Cross Country posted strong team and individual results and senior Annalise Schroeder received special recognition.

Cross Country

Representing the Rams at the Division II competition in New York, the Men’s Cross Country team came away with second-place honors. Freshman Kaleb Gunderson took third-place in the individual rankings.

Senior Annalise Schroeder (pictured above with Coach Trey Meadows) crowned her NCU career with a second-place finish in the 5K with a career best time of 19:30.3. In addition to running honors, Schroeder was honored at a pre-race banquet with the annual Bullock Award, one of the top awards in cross country that recognize academic excellence, athletic achievement and Christian service and conduct. Schroeder was also named an NCCAA National Scholar Athlete.

Women’s Soccer and Volleyball

The Women’s Soccer and Volleyball teams battled hard in the Florida heat but were unable to prevail. The soccer team pulled a win in the final game to bring home fifth place. On the volleyball court the Rams placed sixth.
