George Wood speaks at North Central chapel

George Wood visits campus

Today North Central University welcomed George O. Wood, Ph.D., general superintendent of the Assemblies of God (AG), as he visited campus and spoke in chapel.

Wood has been to campus on multiple occasions and today he had a powerful message for students, sharing a memorable tool he calls “The Jesus Way,” to look at the Beatitudes from Matthew 5:3–12, as a powerful tool for development of Christian character.

An advocate for Christian education, Wood chatted afterward with students and staff, affirming the work they are doing at North Central. “It’s important to understand the difference between cost and value,” Wood said, noting how research indicates that “Students attending a Christ-honoring university will retain their faith in a hugely different proportion…than people who attend a secular institution. There is not better preparation for the church in the marketplace than a school like North Central.”

Serving as the AG’s chief executive officer since 2007, Wood oversees the Assemblies of God, USA, part of the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world, with more than 3 million members in the United States. AG USA is part of a larger World Assemblies of God Fellowship, which Wood serves as chairman, with a membership of over 67 million.

Wood holds a doctoral degree in pastoral theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., and a juris doctorate from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, Calif. He is a member of the California Bar and admitted and qualified as attorney and counsellor of the United States Supreme Court.

Wood has authored several books including Fearless, Road Trip Leadership, Core Values, Living in the Spirit, A Psalm in Your Heart, Living Fully, The Successful Life, and a college text on the Book of Acts. Sermons and articles by Dr. Wood may be accessed at
