NCU Days: The power of college visit events

It’s a rite of passage for high school students everywhere—at some point, you need to start thinking about college. One of the best ways to get a sense of what life at college will be like is to attend a college visit event. These events offer the opportunity for prospective students and their families to get an up-close look at the campus and ask all the important questions that come with making such an important decision.

North Central University’s largest visit event of the year is NCU Days, offered once in the fall and once in the spring. NCU Days provides a realistic sense of a day (or two) in the life of a college student at North Central so prospective students have a clear sense of what to expect when they choose to attend NCU.

What do college visit events offer?

College visit events offer much more than just a tour of the campus. NCU Days offers a close-up look at college life by attending classes and chapel, staying in the residence halls, eating in the Dining Center, and participating in social activities. Visiting students have access to information sessions led by admissions counselors and can ask questions about the application process, financial aid options, student life, or any other topic relevant to starting college.

One highlight of visiting campus during NCU Days is the opportunity to attend classes or chat with professors and current students eager to share their experiences with you. These conversations can give insight into what is important at North Central, what sets us apart from other colleges, and much more.

NCU Days welcomes students from all grades and transfer students. Devin Lehnhoff ’14, Executive Director of Admissions and Head Baseball Coach, noted that most students who attended the November 2022 visit event were juniors, seniors, or prospective transfer students; there were also five sophomores in attendance, getting a head-start on their college search.

The benefits of attending events

Attending college visit events offers many benefits beyond just seeing what the campus looks like. Being able to speak directly with faculty members, staff members, and current students gives prospective students an inside look at how things operate day-to-day; something that’s impossible to get from reading view books or visiting websites online. Gaining this extra knowledge helps ensure that when it comes time for students to make a decision about where they want to pursue their studies, it will be an informed one based on facts rather than feelings alone.

A major benefit for high school seniors this year is that those who attend Spring NCU Days and plan to start classes in fall 2023 will receive a $500 visit scholarship!

A valuable opportunity

College visit events are essential for high schoolers looking into higher education options as well as parents who want their children’s decisions backed by factual information. By attending NCU Days or other visit events, future students can gain insights into which college or university might be right for them—insights they won’t find elsewhere!

Churches and schools can also arrange trips to NCU Days! Our Admissions staff will help coordinate the visit so students have an incredible experience!

North Central University alumni are often eager to share their own college experiences with others. If you know college-bound students, you are always welcome to invite them to future visit events.

If you’re considering higher education options or helping someone else do so, make sure to take advantage of these valuable opportunities!
