Potential building project emerges from master facilities plan

For the past 18 months, North Central University (NCU) has been developing a Master Facilities Plan in partnership with DLR Group of Minneapolis. Emerging from this process is a potential project to add a building to North Central University’s campus footprint at southeast corner of 14th Street and Chicago Avenue. The potential project would be an Academic Commons facility to house the majority of NCU’s undergraduate colleges and accommodate the introduction of biological sciences and STEM curriculum.

The project is still in the exploratory phase; DLR Group is working with Kimley-Horn, McGough, and Tegra Group to refine design concepts, develop project budgets, and guide any preliminary discussions with regulatory bodies while North Central University is in the early quiet phase of a capital campaign to secure funding from donors.

“There is tremendous potential for a North Central University Academic Commons building to further enhance the great development that has been happening in Elliot Park,” said Scott Hagan, president of North Central University. “It’s premature to declare a time frame, but our university has always trusted in God’s perfect timing and we look forward to sharing more details as they become available.”
