Rev. Dr. Darnell Williams, Sr.

Darnell Williams Sr. appointed to faculty role

Darnell K. Williams Sr., D.Min., has been appointed as Associate Professor in Pastoral Leadership at North Central University. Williams is an ordained minister and has more than 30 years of experience in pastoral ministry, spearheading innovation in teaching practices, and executive leadership. He has served in leadership capacities for churches and the Assemblies of God fellowship and has academic teaching experience that spans the globe. He is a familiar face to the North Central University community from his stint as the Moen Chair for Pentecostal Preaching in spring 2021. He is the author of “Wings to Rise—Blacks, Leadership and the Assemblies of God” (DK Williams Enterprises 2020) and several articles on biblical leadership, diversity, and justice.

Williams and his wife planted two churches in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Lima, Ohio, in 2006 to serve as the Lead Pastor of One Church. He also serves as Executive Presbyter of the General Council of the Assemblies of God and Vice President of the Assemblies of God National Black Fellowship.

Applying his extensive experience as a pastor and church planter, Williams is eager to share his knowledge with North Central pastoral leadership students. He is passionate about classroom education and builds his innovative approach on four cornerstones:

  • Student Focused—providing opportunities for the student to hear, contemplate, wrestle with, and come to a point of clarity in his or her own heart and mind.
  • Assessment Guided—providing objective methods for the student to communicate that education has occurred.
  • Biblically Relevant—teaching everything anchored by the Scriptures and supporting a biblical worldview.
  • Spiritually formative—Embracing that students must be prepared for ministry of all types, whether as a vocational minister or marketplace leader.

Williams holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (Missouri), a Master of  Arts in Business Management from Regent University (Virginia), and a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry from Holmes Bible College (South Carolina). He also completed a Graduate Summer Study Program in International Relations at Oxford University (England).

North Central University is excited to welcome Williams as he begins teaching in fall 2022. With his wealth of experience and knowledge, he will be a tremendous asset to our students and faculty alike. He is eager to translate his years of practical experience into effective teaching for the next generation of Christian leaders. We are grateful for his willingness to serve and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our campus community.
