Keep Moving Forward

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

These are the inspiring words of Martin Luther King Junior. While we pause to celebrate King Jr. and his impact on our country, we also use these words as an inspiration into the next year.

Some of us may be filled with anticipation and excitement for what lies ahead this year. For others, there may be a sense of exhaustion, uncertainty, or maybe even hopelessness that our situation may not change.

No matter where you may be in this new year, Martin Luther King Jr.’s words bring us encouragement that all we need to do is keep moving forward.

In the heat of the Civil Rights Movement, King Jr. encouraged the country to believe that change was possible. Fast forward some 60 years, and we can see just how far we have come as a country since he spoke these words. Though we’re far from perfect, and often times have needed to crawl to keep making progress, we keep moving forward.

So, no matter what you’re facing, remember Dr. King’s encouragement and keep pushing forward. Whether you’re entering 2023 with a fresh wind and are able to fly through this new year, or you feel like the best you can do is crawl, take heart in the fact that you’re making progress.

To celebrate this day, we’ve also compiled a collection of books to celebrate and remember the life and work of Dr. King Jr.. We hope that as you read it you’re inspired to keep moving forward.
