NCU Launches Varsity eSports Team

North Central University is excited to announce the launch of eSports, as the newest varsity sport in NCU’s Athletic program

As a part of North Central Rams varsity eSports team, student athletes will be given the opportunity to play video games competitively against teams all over the United States. NCU’s eSports team is the first and only varsity team of its kind in the Twin Cities, offering students the chance to game while also being coached and earning a degree.

Recruited eSports players are eligible for athletic scholarships, and will also receive coaching and (coming in Fall 2022) have access to a lab designed specifically for this new program.

We are excited about the potential of this new program, and we look forward to seeing the opportunities this will bring to our students and to our community.

The term “gaming,” as referenced in conjunction with North Central’s eSports program, refers to video games that are played in a highly organized competitive environment* and does not involve gambling of any kind.
