Aspiring to a diverse future for North Central University

“North Central University aspires to a future featuring a diversity of experiences, perspectives, approaches and methods. The university holds this aspiration highly and believes that it’s critical to NCU’s mission statement of being a ‘Christ-centered, Bible-based, Pentecostal school with a commitment to academic excellence that prepares students to fulfill biblical models of leadership and ministry throughout the world.’”

These words introduce a new resource for those inside and outside the North Central University community, a section of our website dedicated to not only promoting the vision of diversity and equity but also sharing our stories as we work on this together.

North Central’s Diversity Action Council first engaged the expert assistance of Skot Welch from Global Bridgebuilders two years ago, and with Mr. Welch has been working on this information and key university policies. After the death of George Floyd, the Task Force recognized that the work being done behind the scenes needed to press on with even greater urgency, and that we needed to communicate more regularly with the NCU community about the strides we are making and vision for the institution we long to become.

We invite you to take some time to review the information in the new diversity and equity section of the website including an introduction from President Scott Hagan, Ph.D., the Anti-racist Policy that will govern our actions and provide important protections for all members of the community, and an overview of the ongoing work of the Diversity Action Council.

Dr. Desirée Libengood, Dean, College of Fine Arts and Diversity Action Council Chair
