The Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance at North Central University engages students in real-world learning to build analytical and quantitative skills in the classroom and when you enter the workplace. Through rigorous coursework with expert faculty, you’ll learn to leverage assets, manage budgets, achieve financial efficiencies, maximize investments, and take on real-world challenges.
After completion of your program, you’ll be ready to sit for your Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam with confidence and apply your knowledge and skills in nonprofit, for-profit, and faith-based organizations.

Why Study Accounting and Finance at NCU?
Through NCU’s unique approach to Christ-centered, experiential learning, the accounting degree program equips students with competitive skills through hands-on experience in real businesses. With courses such as business law, economics, international business, and tax accounting, you’ll be prepared to pursue an accounting career in a variety of industries and settings.
Taught by active business leaders and consultants, our accounting classes offer valuable learning opportunities such as investing simulations with real money and real consequences. In addition to academic rigor, the accounting degree program focuses on developing collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking to make you a vital part of any team.

Students can choose to take additional undergraduate classes (150 credits) to be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

All business majors (including finance and accounting) take a project management course and have the option of completing a proficiency exam to earn your Project Management Certification.
Career Outcomes
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects strong consistent growth (5%) in demand for accounting professionals, including accountants and auditors. These positions generally require a bachelor’s degree, though a CPA can make you a more competitive candidate and/or raise your earning potential.1 At NCU, 98.8% of students who graduated in 2020 and 2021 were employed within six months (except for graduates pursuing further education, entrepreneurship, and missions).

Does the accounting and finance major require an internship?
Yes, all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance program at NCU must complete an internship ahead of graduation. Internships in the Twin Cities provide hands-on training at a wide range of organizations, from small businesses and churches to national nonprofits and Fortune 500 corporations. Our experienced faculty can help guide you in finding and applying for internship opportunities.
