Position Purpose

The Director of Admissions coordinates university efforts to enroll qualified new students and assists in coordinating student service initiatives throughout the campus. Each year The director will lead and manage the operations, processing, and recruitment staff of the Admissions Office. This leader will serve on the Enrollment Director Team.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

(30%) Develop comprehensive admissions strategies and priorities for the University. Design, create and maintain systems necessary for implementation of admissions strategies.

  • Define desired student criteria, including academic and spiritual characteristics and ensure enrollment of qualified new students.
  • Manage all aspects of the admissions funnel including applications, acceptances, and confirmed. Ensure timely follow up to each applicant and accepted student. One week for applied and every two week once accepted.
  • Determine and prioritize student markets and assess ways to market to and recruit students in defined markets.
  • Understand the product offered to students and develop training for staff members.
  • Determine most effective methods to reach and communicate with prospective students and work with Marketing to execute appropriate communication flow for each population.
  • Conduct market research, coordinate and analyze data from other agencies as it applies to recruitment.
  • Develop and communicate recruitment strategy focused on goals and benchmarks to internal audiences and constituencies.
  • Analyze competing institutions ability to meet student needs and communicate their message.
  • Produce and oversee the admissions policies and procedures.
  • Acquire names and addresses of prospective students via list serves.
  • Create and oversee personalized contact management system along with oversight of the admissions CRM which includes managing the Associate Director of Data and Processing.
  • Maintain information system and software to connect Admissions and Financial Aid departments to communicate internally.
  • Provide oversight for all campus visits.
  • Design and manage the student recruiter program.
  • Provide guidance with scheduling of travel programs and student ministry groups.
  • Interact with the Marketing Department and the Admissions Processing Department regarding advertising and marketing strategies and development of Admissions material.
  • Oversee merit scholarship awarding program and Financial Aid leveraging system.
  • Oversee registration of new students (classes, housing and finances).

 

(30%) Provide leadership for admissions office.

  • Recruit, interview, select and orient admissions employees. Provide ongoing training and team development.
  • Ensure superior customer service to partners, students, and internal constituents.
  • Train admissions employees in office vision/strategy, performance of tasks initially and on an on-going basis.
  • Provide office management through motivating employees, assigning projects and verifying that tasks are completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
  • Serve as liaison between admissions employees and senior administration and business office personnel in the communication and explanation of university policies and decisions as it relates to the admissions office.
  • Annually construct and present a detailed budget providing thorough cost analysis and itemization of associated expenses. Review budget reports on a monthly basis. Approve all department expenses.

 

(20%) Represent the Admissions Office throughout the university.

  • Chair the Admissions Committee.
  • Oversee new student academic registration, housing application process, and financial aid awarding/clearance process for new students.
  • Advise and assist the Executive Director of Admissions as needed.
  • Coordinate with Director of Financial Aid the implementation and development of financial aid programs.
  • Serve on various committees throughout the school year as needed.
  • Network with admissions colleagues through professional associations and meeting to remain abreast of current trends and practices.
  • Network with other offices on campus to build bridges into a university model of recruitment vs. an admissions office only model.

 

(10%) Serve as public representative for the university.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key influencers, such as District Youth Directors, youth pastors and guidance counselors.
  • Oversee travel recruitment to represent North Central at college fairs, high schools, churches and youth events. Serve as primary public relations office for prospective students.
  • Host individuals and groups during campus visits, providing advise to parents/guardians.
  • Serve as coordinator of Financial Counseling Center in the beginning of each semester for new student populations.

 

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor degree and a minimum of three years of experience in marketing, admissions or enrollment management. Master’s degree preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to deal with a variety of individuals with poise and professionalism.

Ability to be self-motivated and able to function without direct supervision.

Ability to plan and execute activities with attention to detail.

Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.

Ability to travel to represent the school as needed.

Ability to communicate well verbally and in written form.

Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills.

Knowledge in computer programming, software and use of programs.

Knowledge in marketing trends and tools.

Knowledge of youth culture.

 

Working Conditions and Frequency:

Equipment and Tools

Use of a PC and telephone, photocopier and facsimile machine approximately 95% of the workday

 

Environmental Conditions

Exposure to repetitive motion of the fingers, hands and wrists on a daily basis
