Position Purpose
Carlstrom ASL-Interpreting is seeking adjunct with lab instruction in American Sign Language. Duties included teaching the following courses:
- American Sign Language Lab I
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- B.A. in related field preferred; will consider teaching experience as substitute
- 2 years teaching experience; college teaching experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom
- Effective pedagogical practices, with an ongoing willingness to grow and develop
Essential Functions
- Plan and develop a variety of instruction objectives and experiences appropriate to college-transfer courses in American Sign Language
- Develop and teach to the objectives of the American Sign Language curriculum
- Lead students to demonstrate cultural competence through the exploration of deaf history, deaf culture and community
- Design learning experiences for the unique characteristics of individual adult students through classes, individual instruction and self-directed learning
- Maintain appropriate records which indicate student progress and meet college requirements
- Follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed and deal consistently and fairly with all students
