Position purpose

Assistant to the Dean of Students is an upper-class student selected to use administrative skills to assist the Dean and work alongside the Residence Life & Student Conduct Department in order to complete daily tasks, projects and update budgets.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

(100%) Provide general Administrative support to the staff of the Student Development Office

  • Working Knowledge of Student Development Policies
  • Maintain Excellent Customer Service
  • Utilize Proper Telephone Etiquette Procedures
  • Maintain Budgets for the Residence Life Department
  • Maintain Positive Communication with Students, Staff, Offices, and External Constituents
  • Maintains Late Points Database
  • Residence Life Camping Retreat Preparations
  • Residence Hall Fall Retreat Preparations
  • Student Development Event and Student Leader Training Support
  • Maintain Jotform
  • Track & Audit Residence Life Applications
  • Support in Residence Life Hiring Season
  • Organizes food for Hall Close Fall & Spring
  • General Upkeep Student Development Spaces
  • Supportive Projects as Assigned by Supervisor
  • Other Tasks & Frequently Asked Questions as Assigned

Required qualifications/skills

  • Commit to a full academic year of service.
  • Be a full-time NCU student, enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester is preferable.
  • Have and maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or above.
  • Preference toward having resided in a NCU residence hall for at least two semesters;
  • Have no unresolved disciplinary or chapel attendance concerns.
  • Work for 12-15 hours per week for 16 weeks per semester, and up to 40 hours a week at the beginning of each semester. Increased hours during Fall Retreat and Hiring season.
  • Residence Life experience preferable.
  • Expected to know and abide by the information stated in the Student Guide.
  • Represent NCU with professional communication (phone calls, emails, in person, etc.)
  • Be self-motivated, creative, organized, decisive, and enthusiastic.
  • Be reliable and punctual. Schedule of office hours will revolve around his/her academic schedule.
  • Dress professionally
  • Advance notice must be given to the Dean for any time off needed.
  • A student worker is expected to be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs on occasion.
  • Assume job duties and responsibilities in the same manner as a regular full-time employee.
